Tracking Elusive Carnivores in the North Cascades

class
March 24, 2013
North Cascades Institute
Environmental Learning Center
Diablo, Washington
Get out to explore the Learning Center’s wild neighborhood and discover which animals and birds have been sharing this special place with us, with a special eye towards the rebounding populations of Cascades carnivores.

David Moskowitz, author of Wildlife of the Pacific Northwest and a certified Track & Sign Specialist, will teach us the basics of tracking. Learning tracks and sign will open our eyes to a whole new world of wildlife activity. The tracks and sign of any and all species encountered will be studied, whether big or small, clear or obscure. The course emphasizes dialogue and hands-on, practical learning to determine the species that left a track or sign.

Enjoy this class as a day seminar or, better yet, make a weekend out of it by attending David’s Sourdough Speaker Series presentation the previous night, where he will share his new book Wolves in the Land of Salmon. There’s a discounted rate if you sign up for both; call (360) 854-2599 for details!
